Baby Boomers as Primary Elderly Caregivers

As Baby Boomers approach retirement, they are simultaneously often dealing with the care of elderly parents, siblings and spouses. The responsibilty of such care can be both wearisome and dibilitating.Boomers themselves, often ailing from symptoms of aging, are seemingly "on-call" 24/7 in caring for a loved one.

There are numerous resources available to help in this care, some paid for by Social Security and other Agencies for the Aging. Sometimes though (and unfortunately all too often), there is no financial help available. The cost of visiting nurses, therapists, or in worse case scenarios, a live in caregiver, the expense must be born by the baby boomer.
Additional costs might include special dietary needs; medical supplies; bariactric medical equipment; mobility aids such as walkers or canes, and wheelchairs.
