Boomer Trends information on Vision Loss
There are many types of eye diseases that can cause partial or total loss of eyesight. The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends that persons over 60 years old should have their eyes examined annually.
One common ailment among those over age 60 is a condition called AMD (age-related macular degeneration) which reveals itself through the need for brighter lighting when reading, colors that seem washed out and dull, and a gradual haziness of your overall vision, or a blind spot in the center of your vision.Other maladies might include:
  • Astigmatism
  • Cataracts
  • Color Blindness
  • Conjectivitis
  • Dry Eye Syndrome
  • Glaucoma
  • Myopia and others
